*DO NOT USE A TOP-SPOT TICK PRODUCT ON YOUR PET!* I don't like to use systemic chemicals on my dog and I absolutely will NOT use a top-spot treatment against ticks, so I use the Preventic collar as part of my anti-tick campaign. I also use a natural cedar- and peppermint-oil spray plus a bio-magnetic clip, along with the Preventic collar. There is no ONE product that will keep ticks away 100%, at least not here in the upper Midwest. However, unlike most chemical-based tick products, the Preventic Collar doesn't send toxins throughout an animals system. I also doesn't leave any oily or powdery residue on my dog, and doesn't leave a bad chemical smell. I would give this collar 5-stars if it was completely "natural", but I'm still very thankful to get it at a good price because it is an effective and safer resource against ticks. If you care about your dog's health, don't use a top-spot treatment and definitely do some homework about the Lyme's vaccine (its efficacy is very controversial).

We have a husky/malemute and live on 16.5 acres of wooded land. The ticks are EVERYWHERE, and we especially worry about deer ticks. With our dog's thick fur, we had a hard time finding the ticks on her until they were terribly swollen and she was miserable. At first, when I put the collar on her, it seemed to be doing NO good. I found another half dozen within the first 24 hours and 5 more the following day. After re-reading the instructions, I realized I had not tightened it enough and spread her thick fur apart to get it down to her skin. After doing that, I found 2 more ticks and haven't seen any since (except those on the outside of the fur, trying to get down to the skin). She seems so much happier now, too, not to have those awful parasites on her.

These collars prevent attachment of ticks and detaches existing ticks within 48 hours. Activity starts within 24 hours and will last up to 3 months. Normal wetting of dog by rainfall does not reduce effectiveness, however remove collar before bathing. Adjustable-fits dogs with a 25 inch neck or smaller. Adjust collar so that two fingers may be placed between collar and dog's neck. Cut off and dispose of excess. No activity against fleas. Do not use on cats.
